There are some benefits to choosing to go with a month to month lease. You will have some flexibility that ensures that you can move out if you need at any time, provided you give some of the notice that is necessary. If you are in a transitional period and won’t be able to stay in the same area for a long time, this can work well. Another thing to worry about is if your income changes quite a bit and you wat to make sure that you have an option to move out if you are not able to afford the apartment any longer.

But while  there are some benefits to choosing to go with the month to month lease, there are also some drawbacks to consider as well. You will need to know some of these to make sure that you are prepared and won’t end up making a bad decision for your rental needs. Some of the issues of a month to month lease include:

# Higher rent costs: These leases are riskier for the landlord to take on. You will find that the monthly rent is going to be higher when you go with one of these apartments compared to a traditional lease.

# Less stability: A month to month lease is going to make you feel less stability compared to a traditional lease. You can end the lease any time that you would like, but the landlord is able to do the same thing as well. This can make it hard to know how long you will be allowed to stick around.

# Fewer incentives and amenities: Since these month to month leases are going to be more volatile, it is less likely that the landlord is going to worry that much about your long-term comfort. This means there will be fewer amenities in the apartment that you choose that come with this kind of lease.

# Uncertainty in housing: The biggest drawback with this kind of lease is that it is going to add some uncertainty to your living situation.
